“In to me see!” Intimacy is perhaps the highest aspiration of any two individuals who share a committed relationship. The ability to truly know and be known by another.
It is a place of great vulnerability and requires profound levels of trust, personal security, and healthy personal boundaries because the more vulnerable we choose to make ourselves, the greater the invitation we extend to be hurt. Likewise, with increased vulnerability comes the risk of losing one’s individual self in the relationship. At the same time, vulnerability is the gateway to deep and meaningful intimacy.
At Discover IdentityTM, our vision of intimacy is a sacred place occupied by two individuals who are secure enough in their own identity that they can be vulnerable in a relationship without losing their sense of self. It is a boundaried place that safeguards the couple from external forces, while giving each partner the freedom to be in outside relationships and activities, and the security of knowing that they will both return to their sacred place, where they share and experience things that they share with no one else.
Offerings for couples are still in the creative stages but will be similar to those offered by the Men of Good WillTM in that they will be based on eternal principles and identity theory. They will include experiential and practical elements.
